Greens/EFA welcomes proposal to make Catalan a working language for the European Parliament

Last week, an agreement was reached between the Spanish and Catalan governments that the Spanish government will request the European Parliament to adopt Catalan as a working language for the plenary sessions of the European Parliament. Greens/EFA welcomes and supports this proposal.

The Commission has released its third annual Rule of Law Report. The report focuses on justice systems, anti-corruption frameworks, media freedom and pluralism, and institutional checks and balances. Food cannot be fuel for Europe’s aeroplanes

The European Parliament will vote on an expanded definition of Sustainable Aviation Fuels or “SAFs”, which includes unsustainable feedstocks such as palm oil distillate and some food crops. The expanded definition is opposed by major European airlines, several Member States, and the Greens/EFA Group.

Urgent need to move past unanimity to achieve tax justice

The European Parliament will vote on a resolution on the minimum tax rate on the profits of multinationals, following the Hungarian government’s veto on 17 June. Digital Services Act: New global standard for the internet

Crypto-assets: MiCA agreement sets a common EU harmonised framework for crypto-assets and will provide security for investors & support sustainability

Negotiators from the European Parliament, Council and Commission have reached an agreement on the Regulation on Markets in Crypto-assets (MiCA). MiCA will be the first comprehensive regime for crypto-assets in the world and will contain strong measures to guard against market abuse and manipulation.
