    Parliament stands united against corruption in the wake of the Qatargate revelations

    The European Parliament has just voted for a series of measures aimed at strengthening the fight against corruption, following the revelations in the ‘Qatargate’ scandal.

    EU reaches agreement on closing the gender pay gap

    The European Parliament, the Council and the Commission have reached an agreement on a new EU directive on Pay transparency. The directive aims to ensure equal pay in the EU by highlighting the pay gap and giving employees more rights when it comes to pay. Greens/EFA strongly welcome the outcome of the trilogue negotiations.

    The Greens-EFA welcome the award of the Sakharov Prize to the brave people of Ukraine

    The 2022 prize will be awarded to “The brave people of Ukraine” represented by their president, civil society and elected leaders*. The decision was taken unanimously by the Parliament's Conference of Presidents on 19/10/2022. The award ceremony of the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought is taking place today from 12 to 12.30.

    Greens/EFA Group demands overhaul of ethics & accountability rules to root out corruption in European Parliament

    The Greens/EFA Group are proposing a series of measures to investigate and stamp out corruption and the abuse of power in the European Parliament, following the ‘Qatargate’ scandal. The scandal broke on Friday following news that Belgian authorities are investigating allegations of bribery involving the now former S&D MEP, Eva Kaili.

    Corruption affair in the European Parliament/Qatar

    Zero tolerance against corruption and bribery; this must also and especially apply to the European Parliament. The mere suspicion of corruption and venality damages the reputation and credibility of the European Parliament.
