Diana Riba alerts on the status of European press freedom
EFA MEP Diana Riba i Giner intervened in plenary on the debate "The erosion of the rule of law in Greece: the wiretapping scandal and media freedom" to alert about the worrisome state of the freedom of the press in the EU.

Inclusion of Russia to blacklist shows EU can take strong steps towards tax justice but be more proactive
EU Ministers of Finance and Economy have agreed to update the list of non-cooperative third country jurisdictions for tax purposes, commonly known as the ‘EU tax haven blacklist’. They agreed to add Russia and the British Virgin Islands to the blacklist but have decided to leave Qatar on the greylist of non-cooperative jurisdictions.

Parliament votes for all new cars to be electric by 2035
Members of the European Parliament have adopted the compromise reached with EU Member States and the European Commission on CO2 emissions for cars and vans. From 2035, no more new cars and vans with combustion engines will be registered in the EU. The Greens/EFA Group voted in favour of the outcome of the negotiations.

Commission sends wrong signal to truck manufacturers
The European Commission has presented its proposal for a 90% reduction in CO2 emissions from new trucks placed on the market by 2040. With this proposal, the European Commission is acknowledging the fact that trucks running on fossil fuels, especially diesel, can continue to drive on European roads after 2050.
The European Free Alliance Group in the European Parliament demands more transparency around all parliamentary business. Following the Qatar and Morocco corruption scandals, citizens have lost confidence in the integrity and values of the European Parliament.
On the agenda for the plenary session: Green Deal Industrial Plan, adequate minimum income, preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, an updated mandate for the special committee on foreign interference, an independent EU ethics body, CO2 emissions for cars and vans, and developing an EU cycling strategy.
Volodymyr Zelenskiy in the European Parliament /EUCO Summit
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is expected to attend an extraordinary meeting in the European Parliament. Afterwards, the EU Heads of State and Government will receive the Ukrainian President for their summit meeting.
