FEMM and LIBE committees approves first EU legal document addressing gender-based violence

Parliament to have final say on key nature bill in July

Members of the Environment Committee have just voted on the Nature Restoration Law. The Law will now go to the European Parliament Plenary session in July. There was no majority in favour of rejecting the law, despite the efforts of the EPP Group to attack nature and the Green Deal. The compromise did not get a majority.

Commission proposals welcome but not enough to steer EU through crises

Today, the European Commission has just presented two proposals, one on the revision of the Multiannual Financial Framework, the EU’s seven year budget, and the other amending the so-called Own Resources enhancing the EU’s ability to raise funds directly, rather than via Member States budgetary contributions.

Despite the increased visibility of human rights considerations in EU trade agreements by virtue of ‘essential elements clauses’ and concomitant suspension clauses, the enforceability of such provisions has remained modest. The European Parliament has today approved the recommendations to the Member States and the Commission included in the findings report of the Committee of Inquiry into Pegasus(PEGA) and other cyber espionage systems.

Parliament calls for end to surveillance spyware

MEPs adopted the conclusions of the Pegasus Committee (PEGA) which was set up in the wake of the revelations that spyware had been abused inside and outside of the EU to target journalists, activists and politicians across Europe, including Greens/EFA Group MEPs Diana i Riba and Jordi Sole.
