    GREENS/EFA Proposals on Media Freedom in the EU

    Media freedom, pluralism and independence across Europe are being undermined in many ways. Although the European Union institutions may claim to have limited competence to defend media freedom and pluralism across the region, the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament is convinced that more can, and should be done.

    Greens/EFA launch plan to improve media freedom and journalist protection

    To mark World Press Freedom Day tomorrow (May 3rd), the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament will launch plans to improve media freedom and journalist protection in the European Union together with a petition directed at the European Commission.

    Language Equality in the Digital Age

    Whilst many minority or smaller languages are thriving as community languages, it is often a different story online, where English often dominates. This is not only a problem for minority languages. Many EU languages are majority languages in the real world but have become minority languages in the digital world.
