    Afghanistan, where the world failed humanity

    Since the Taliban takeover in 2021, Afghan people are living through an absolute nightmare. Women and girls are facing particularly difficult conditions under Taliban rule. During this conference, policymakers, Afghans, and civil society actors will focus on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, in particular for women and girls.

    Deaths at sea preventable but predictable until EU changes course

    Members of the European Parliament will debate the recent, tragic loss of life in the Mediterranean Sea. The Greens/EFA Group called for today’s debate to draw attention to the lack of sea rescue missions, and safe passage for refugees, which is contributing to the high loss of life at the EU’s borders.

    MEPs vote for Ethics body, call on Commission not to drag its feet

    Members of the European Parliament have voted for an independent EU Ethics Body to tackle issues of integrity, transparency and accountability across the EU institutions. The Greens/EFA Group are calling on the Commission to come out with proposals for a strong and effective independent EU Ethics Body without delay.

    Greens/EFA Group congratulate new Vice President but demand zero tolerance strategy to stamp out corruption

    In the wake of the suspension of the former Vice President Eva Kaili (S&D), who was caught up in allegations of corruption at the heart of the ‘Qatargate’ scandal, MEPs voted to elect Marc Angel MEP (S&D) as Vice President of the Parliament. The Greens/EFA Group had selected Gwendoline Delbos-Corflied MEP to run for Vice President.
