Diana Riba: “Let’s be more rigorous, or soon there will be no democracy nor Rule of Law left”
EFA MEP Dian Riba i Giner intervened in plenary during the debate of the Rule of Law in many European countries but with a particular focus on Spain and Malta.

During the plenary week in Strasbourg, EFA MEPs, amongst others presented the study "Assessing the European Union's support for regional and minority languages: 10 years after the Alfonsi resolution (2013-2023)"
Greens/EFA priorities for the plenary week included the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, regulation for Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry, right for an adequate minimum income, EU Guidelines on Human Rights Defenders, among others.
Greens/EFA call for development of key strategic industries as a competitive advantage for the EU
The Greens/EFA Group welcomes the Net Zero Industry Act, which will reinforce the industrial plan of the Green Deal and create jobs in the climate-neutral industry. However, some aspects of the proposal remain questionable, such as the emphasis on CO2 storage as a mature net-zero technology for our 2030 climate commitments.
Ana Miranda calls for the protection of bees and sustainable farming
EFA MEP and Vice Chair of the Committee of Petitions, Ana Miranda, intervened in plenary today to call the EU to take action to protect bees and other pollinators as key actors for environmental health. She also pointed out the great support of this citizen petition, with 1.2 million European petitioners backing it up.
The European Parliament will vote on the resolution on an adequate minimum income. The resolution follows the recommendations published by the Commission, setting out a minimum income above the poverty line. The Greens/EFA group have long called for a directive on this matter.
Deaths at sea preventable but predictable until EU changes course
Members of the European Parliament will debate the recent, tragic loss of life in the Mediterranean Sea. The Greens/EFA Group called for today’s debate to draw attention to the lack of sea rescue missions, and safe passage for refugees, which is contributing to the high loss of life at the EU’s borders.

European Parliament adopts binding targets to increase carbon sinks
As lead negotiators on LULUCF, the Greens/EFA managed to get Member States to agree to report on how they take into account the principle to “do no significant harm” when adopting reforms to reverse the current shrinkage of our natural land sinks.
