TAKE BACK THE POWER

A right to green energy for all

We want green and affordable energy for all

Energy, its provenance and its price, impact both people and the planet. We all want and deserve to live a dignified life on a healthy planet: affordable and renewable energy is the way to this.

But that’s not currently the case

We are in times of social and climate crisis because of our dependency on fossil fuels and authoritarian regimes, raising prices and exploiting the earth.

Stay informed: get the latest news on our climate campaign!

A right to energy is the solution

Everyone should have access to affordable and renewable energy, as a basic right. We want the European Union to guarantee that all people living in the EU can benefit from such a right, a fair decision for the people and the environment.

EU must take the lead with more ambitious climate targets

To save the climate, 2020 is crucial. The European Climate Law presented by the European Commission falls short of the promises enshrined in the Green Deal and does not live up to the EU's claim to take this leading role in climate protection.

Climate targets need action

Agreeing on a target is important but only half the battle. What counts now is how the EU and Member States will work to achieve the targets. The long term budget is a litmus test for how serious they are.

A welcome and necessary step but now we need to see real action

The Green Deal has serious shortcomings when it comes to agricultural funds and trade policy and these need to be addressed for a truly ambitious climate policy. The Green Deal needs clear and binding measures that limit global warming to 1.5c, herald the phase-out of fossil fuels, and protect biodiversity.
