European Parliament presidency

The Greens/EFA group today nominated British MEP Jean Lambert as their candidate for the presidency of the European Parliament.

Commenting on the result, Jean Lambert said:

"I am honoured to have the support of the Greens/EFA group to stand as their candidate for the presidency of the European Parliament.

"This election comes at a crucial moment, both for our parliament and for the entire European Union, and it is crucial that we have a candidate that will represent and defend the core values of the EU.

"As a long-standing Member of the European Parliament, I hope to be able to reach out across the political spectrum and look forward to what I hope will be a positive and engaging campaign."
