EPP blocking of Nature Restoration Law harms food security & small farms

Today, the EPP group walked out of the negotiations on the European Parliament's position on the Commission's proposal for the Nature Restoration Law.
Jutta Paulus MEP, Greens/EFA shadow rapporteur for the Nature Restoration Law in the lead Environment Committee, comments:
“The EPP are moving at a dangerous pace towards the far-right. With its sabotage of European legislation, the EPP is adopting a well-known pattern of the extreme right. Blocking the Nature Restoration Law harms food security and small farms, which are particularly dependent on healthy soils.
“Healthy ecosystems are the prerequisite for productive agriculture. Manfred Weber's obsession with damaging Ursula von der Leyen and his ignorance of the urgency of the ecological crisis endangers our livelihoods, those of future generations and European agriculture. We call on the EPP to act constructively and return to the negotiating table for the benefit of nature, food and farmers."
