On today's Future of Europe debate with Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen taking place during the European Parliament's 'mini-plenary' in Brussels, Philippe Lamberts, President of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament, comments:
"Denmark has a lot to offer Europe and the world, it was once a global champion of renewable energy, a world leader in development aid and a country where social partners are strong. However, now Denmark is joining hands with those who want to make Europe a fortress and are closing its doors to those in need. Denmark now ranks fifth in the EU in terms of carbon footprint by household. And Danske Bank has been exposed as one of the biggest money launderers in Europe. Meeting the challenges of our times will probably require a course somewhat different from the one Denmark is currently charting."
