EP Vice-President

The Greens/EFA Group today selectedIsabelle Durant as its candidate for a European Parliament Vice-President post. Ms. Durant is a newly elected Green MEP and Co-President of 'Ecolo', the francophone Belgian Green party. She was previously Belgian deputy prime minister and transport minister. Confirming her candidacy, she underlined the importance of transparency issues, citizen initiatives and  forging closer ties with the European Parliament's host region of Brussels.  European Parliament Vice-Presidents will be elected during the next Strasbourg plenary session 14-16 July 2009.
