EFA Calls for a two-state solution in the Israel and Palestine Conflict.

The European Free Alliance in the European parliament stands in solidarity with the people of Palestine and demands a two-state solution for the Israel and Palestine conflict.

Jordi Solé, EFA Parliamentary Group President, said:

“We know the solution for a lasting peace between Israel and Palestine is: two sovereign states, living in peace and security on the basis of the 1967 borders and with Jerusalem as the capital of both states”.

“The situation on the ground is explosive. Illegal settlements proliferate, as well as demolitions and threats of evictions, such as in Masafer Yatta. The unacceptable reality of occupation becomes unbearable. A new government in Israel is about to be formed, with far-right extremists threatening to formalize the annexation of the occupied territories. And the international community seems to get disengaged from the end of the conflict.”

“In such a context, we need more political resolve from the EU than ever. We need a European peace initiative which, based on international law and UN resolutions, envisages the end of the conflict as an absolute priority.”
