The European Free Alliance expresses its deep sadness at the news of the sudden death of the Green MEP Michèle RIVASI.

 

Michèle RIVASI was a brilliant and charismatic MEP, remarkable for her knowledge. A grassroots politician renowned for being close to the people. She fought hard for a fairer, more democratic, more transparent and greener Europe.

 

Her strong environmental convictions have marked many of the battles that have forged her lobbying, against the plundering of natural resources, in defence of the environment, natural resources, and in defence of indigenous peoples.

 

She has often been on the front line alongside the European Free Alliance. She was among the first ones to go to Spanish prisons to denounce the unfair sentences handed down by the courts, to denounce the unfair sentences handed down to Catalan elected representatives involved in the Catalan "trial" of the 1st of October 2017.

 

EFA joins in the grief of all its members and we send our most sincere condolences to her family and all those who have suffered her loss.
