Middle East peace process

The European Parliament today adopted a resolution on the EU's role in the Middle East peace process. After the vote, Green foreign policy spokesperson Tamas Meszerics stated:

"The European Parliament has today called for the EU to play a more active role in the Middle East peace process. MEPs have underlined that Europe cannot continue to turn a blind eye to the current situation, as this will lead to the consolidation of occupation and annexation, and other further violations of international law. The resolution makes a direct call to EU foreign policy high representative Morgherini to act and gives her a broad mandate to push for a peace agreement that guarantees the peace and security of both sides. The clear call for an end to the Gaza blockade, which is causing serious suffering to the people stuck in Gaza, must also be pursued."
