Ana Miranda MEP Calls for Action Against Humanitarian Crisis in Palestine.

EFA MEP Ana Miranda spoke in plenary today to shed light on the dire humanitarian crisis in Palestine, calling for urgent international intervention.

She highlighted the critical role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

"Right now, 600,000 children need polio vaccines in Palestine. Up to 1 million people have found refuge during the war thanks to the work and effort of UNRWA on the ground." Miranda said.

The Galician MEP condemned the Israeli government's recent moves to prohibit UNRWA's presence in Gaza and the West Bank, describing such actions as catastrophic:

"There is no Plan B from Netanyahu’s government. If UNRWA is banned, no one will provide any aid to the Palestinians. I repeat—no one."

She criticised the silence of international leaders, particularly European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, for failing to address these actions, which she characterised as grave violations of international law.

"Netanyahu is a war criminal, and war criminals must also be prosecuted in Europe," Miranda asserted. She pointed to the International Criminal Court’s mandate, urging the global community to take accountability for upholding justice.

MEP Miranda did not shy away from addressing the Israeli government's strategy, accusing it of pursuing a chilling agenda:

"Israel does have a plan A, and it consists of two steps—ethnic cleansing and genocide. What is being committed is genocide."

EFA MEP Ana Miranda concluded her speech with an appeal to respect international humanitarian law and for Europe and the international community to confront the escalating crisis in Palestine with concrete measures.

"Stop undermining international humanitarian law and human rights. Take care of the Palestinian population who are starving, without hospitals, and above all, are being murdered. Long live the Palestinian people!"
