Commenting on the Scottish independence referendum, Catalan MEP and President of the EFA Group in the European Parliament, Josep-Maria Terricabras said:
"The Scottish referendum process has been a remarkable and inspirational exercise in popular democracy which has engaged unprecedented numbers of people.
"Recognition for the principle of self-determination in this way is an important milestone, with all of the people who live in Scotland able to decide on their constitutional future.
"I congratulate Scotland on the peaceful and positive way in which this debate and referendum were conducted. It has been a remarkable process."
