On the hearing of Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice President-designate for „An Economy that Works for People“, Bas Eickhout, who represented the Greens/EFA group in the hearing, comments:
"Valdis Dombrovskis opened the way for greening the economy. On green financing, Valdis Dombrovskis took a step forward, announcing a new action plan on sustainable finances and promising to work on transparency and disclosure. However, he was particularly unclear in his answers on social policies.
"If the European Commission is serious about the announced Green deal, Valdis Dombrovskis needs to transform the European Investment Bank into a Climate Bank, stop financing fossil fuels and follow the Greens/EFA line on transparent and binding EU Green bond standards.”
