8th of March Statement

As today is International Women's Day on March 8th, the European Free Alliance (EFA) Group would like to express our collective commitment to promoting inclusivity, gender equality, and social justice. International Women's Day serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made in advancing women's rights, but it also underscores the ongoing challenges and barriers that persist. We, as EFA MEPs, are aware of the long road ahead in the battle for gender equality. While we celebrate our achievements, we cannot deny where we have fallen short.

In light of recent events, we want to show our utmost respect and solidarity with the victims of sexual harassment. We would like to highlight their bravery in coming forward, knowing the risks and challenges they will face. In our group, they will always find a place of support and allies.

On this International Women's Day, let us collectively reaffirm our dedication to building a society where inclusivity, gender equality, and social justice prevail. It is imperative that we continue working towards a future free from discrimination and harassment, recognising that our shared efforts today shape the world for generations to come.
