Regional European Ideas Lab - Dublin

Greens meet Changemakers

INTRODUCTION

The first EU Ideas Lab was held in February 2017 and over 300 participants from across Europe attended.

Two thirds of the attendees were "Changemakers" (Representatives of NGOs) and one third were green party activists. The event was organised by the Greens European Free Alliance Group in the EU Parliament. The event was a success and is being repeated next March when it is hoped to attract 1,000 participants. The object was to bring people who are operating in the environment and social justice areas together to network, learn from each other and potentially progress common campaigns together. In addition to the event being repeated next March, 4 regional Ideas Labs are being planned in Denmark, Czech Republic, Spain and in Ireland. The Irish event is scheduled for Friday October 27th & Saturday October 28th, 2017 in the Law Society of Ireland, Blackhall Place, Dublin. Participants are being invited from across these islands and beyond.

The objectives of the Dublin Ideas Lab are:

  • To provide a forum for civil society and NGO bodies from across England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and beyond to meet with MEPs, green political leaders and activists to:
    • Engage in a professionally facilitated and neutral space to share ideas, experiences and knowledge o Discuss specific topics according to a specified structure
    • Connect their struggles and spend a weekend in an inspirational atmosphere
  • To facilitate networking and to create lasting connections between the participants, which can help inform domestic and European policy and if possible enable the participants to identify and work co-cooperatively on common campaigns.
