Valencia’s devastating floods
Statement by Vicent Marzà, Greens/EFA MEP from Valencia
In light of the tragic events that have just struck Valencia in Spain, the Greens-EFA group has tabled a request for a plenary debate entitled: “Tragic loss of human lives in Valencia’s devastating floods: the urgent need to fight the climate crisis and invest in climate adaptation and emergency preparedness to save lives.” The Greens-EFA also call for a minute’s silence for the many victims to be mourned.
Statement by Vicent Marzà, Greens-EFA MEP from Valencia:
“The situation in the Valencian Country is devastating. All our solidarity with the victims and our thanks to the rescue teams who are working tirelessly. The most important thing right now is to save lives and we are already working on a united response from all the institutions, including the European Parliament. We will ask for an urgent solidarity debate and the activation of all emergency funds. There is no doubt that we need to invest much more in emergency planning and adaptation to climate change.”
