Ana Miranda: "Europe must act now. We need to stop Netanyahu’s government on its track."
The situation has worsened, with attacks now extending into Lebanon, targeting civilian areas, hospitals, and densely populated districts such as the south of Beirut.
The Galician MEP directly addressed the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, criticising the EU’s inaction:
"Mr Borrell, how far will this madness go? When will the Netanyahu government be satisfied? The longer we wait to stop this genocide, the more suffering, the greater the horror, and the more disastrous the consequences for the civilian population," she said.
MEP Miranda also stressed the urgent need for humanitarian aid, stating:
"We must not forget the mothers, the orphaned children, the elderly, and the disabled who urgently need humanitarian assistance. It is outrageous to punish an innocent and defenceless civilian population!"
She appealed for an immediate ceasefire as civilian casualties continued to rise:
"The longer we wait to stop this genocide, the more suffering, the greater the horror, and the more disastrous the consequences for the civilian population."
The EU, often seen as a potential mediator, has so far failed to exert enough pressure to halt the violence. MEP Miranda called for decisive action:
"There is only one solution to stop this genocide: an arms embargo on Israel, the suspension of the EU-Israel association agreement, and a severing of diplomatic relations."
Ana Miranda, EFA MEP insists on the growing despair as the humanitarian crisis deepens.
“The longer the conflict continues, the more innocent lives will be lost.”
"Europe must act now. We need to stop Netanyahu’s government in its tracks."
